    Everything you need to begin the journey to CPSM certification is provided in this workshop, including a chance to win free study materials and exam scholarships.

    One hour of review is devoted to each individual domain, with content based on Markendium, the comprehensive educational resource for the successful practice of marketing and business development in the A/E/C industry. Test samples and preparation discussions will occur 2-4 weeks after the workshop.

    But Domains In A Day isn't just for those seeking certification; it's also an opportunity for marketing and business development professionals to expand their understanding of the six Domains of Practice that are critical to their professional growth and firm’s success.

    1 – Marketing Research

     

     

    Melanie Cochrun, CPSM
    Director of Marketing & Communications
    GLY Construction

    As director of marketing and communications at GLY, Melanie oversees marketing and brand strategy, and has direct involvement and leadership of key pursuits and initiatives. She has 20 years of experience marketing, communicating, and developing business in the A/E/C industry, and is a firm believer in evidence-based marketing best practices—while heeding your gut! Melanie joined SMPS in 2004 and became a CPSM in 2012. At the chapter level, she received the 2018 President’s Award, is Co-Facilitator of the Eastside Round Table, and entering a second term as Director of Education. She holds a BA in English Literature, with a Teaching Endorsement, from Western Washington University.

    Bill Strong Consulting

    Bill specializes in helping architecture, engineering and construction firms with strategic planning, marketing and business development strategy, communication training for technical staff, client perception surveys, client care programs and coaching & mentoring marketing personnel. Bill has 45 years of experience in architecture with the last 35 years focusing on business development and marketing. Bill received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kansas State University and his Masters in Public Relations and Marketing from the University of Missouri. Bill has been a member of SMPS since 1982, a Fellow since 1999 and a member off AIA since 1973. He has repeatedly presented at conventions and seminars for organizations locally, regionally, and nationally.


    3 – Client and Business Development

     

     

    Kenda Salisbury, CPSM

    Kenda Salisbury, CPSM, is an innovator, creator, connector, motivator, champion bologna wrangler… and sarcasm is her favorite tool. Over 19 years in the A/E/C industry Kenda has embodied every job title from Marketing Assistant to Director. Currently, she is the Pacific Northwest Business Development Manager for Degenkolb Engineers, a structural engineering firm with five offices along the West Coast. Kenda is a Past President of SMPS Seattle and a member of the inaugural class of SMPS University. She obtained her Certified Professional Services Marketer designation in 2004. In her free time, Kenda enjoys spirited debates, and likes to read, hibernate, and cuddle her cocker spaniel, Murphy.

    Gail Kinner, CPSM, is a marketing manager at Salas O’Brien, a 100% employee-owned facility planning, design, construction management, and commissioning firm with offices nationwide. She leads marketing and communication resources in Seattle. With over 12 years of A/E/C industry experience, Gail has a passion for developing and executing strategic marketing and communications programs that help firms achieve their business goals.

     

     

    Jeannine Alexander, CPSM
    Marketing Director, Tunnels & Underground
    McMillen Jacobs

    Jeannine Alexander, CPSM, has over 20 years of A/E/C industry experience. Her background in marketing and field experience gives her a unique perspective on meeting marketing challenges. As the Marketing Director for McMillen Jacobs Associates’ Underground Division, Jeannine leads the coordination and management of proposal development, internal and external communications, and marketing strategy. Her passions include proposal messaging, coaching teams for interview, and business development. Jeannine earned her Certified Professional Services Marketer certification earlier this year, and is excited to be part of the inaugural immersion day for SMPS Seattle.



    5 – Promotional Activity

     

     

    Christopher Imbeau, CPSM

    Christopher Imbeau is not much of a rule follower. He prefers to step back, challenge the status quo, and blaze new trails forward. This often looks like chaos from the outside, but the final product is always remarkable (yes, this word is used here for its myriad meanings). He believes that different is better than better, and that done is better than perfect. Chris is a career marketing professional with 17 years of experience in the A/E/C industry, a Past President of SMPS Seattle, a Certified Professional Services Marketer.

    Shannon Brush, CPSM, LEED AP
    Associate Principal
    Hargis Engineers

    A strategist who has committed 22 years to developing brand recognition and new business, Shannon brings forth international experience that complements her 15 years in the A/E/C industry. She applies this knowledge with her business administration background to bridge promotional and operational functions as an equity shareholder. She has contributed to the strategic growth of her firm that has poised them for new market penetration and effective talent recruitment. Shannon has presented marketing educational content as part of roundtables, webinar and in-house technical staff training sessions with interactive elements for takeaway learnings. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon.
