Event Recap: Spring Trivia Night

by Amanda Erickson, SMPS Seattle President-Elect, Sellen Construction

It was a record-breaking night for SMPS Seattle’s spring trivia night on April 7. With around 50 attendees and 12 teams, it was the highest attended, most competitive trivia night to date. Most notably, we raised $1,150 for SMPS Seattle’s scholarship fund from the event’s registration fees – the most we’ve ever raised with one event!

In another first, only a one point difference separated the top three teams. In the final round of trivia, Trivia Grandmaster Chris Stuvek asked each team to choose five categories that they wanted to answer (from a pool of eight). Within those five, each team could also choose a “bonus” category where double were earned. It was a make-or-break moment for many teams, and the end results were close. The winners were:

1. Crocs & Sandals: 65.5 points
Team Members: Kenda Salisbury and Kyle Steuck with Degenkolb Engineers; Diane Vandewall with Freiheit & Ho Architects; and Lynn Compas with Historical Research Associates

2. Beer Makes Me Smart: 65 points
Team Members: Brad Geyer, Matt Amrhein, Patrick Lindblom and Patrick Rice with DCI Engineers

3. Kontract Killers: 64.5 points
Team Members: Haeli Landry-Evans and Mike Davis with Swinerton Builders; Amanda Privitt and Charles McIntyre with Cochran

Thanks to everyone who attended and thanks to Trivia Grandmaster, Chris Stuvek with Sazan, for hosting another excellent trivia night!

About SMPS Seattle’s Scholarship Program
SMPS Seattle offers three scholarship programs to members each year. These include a continuing education scholarship that provides funds for SMPS members to expand their knowledge base; the Fellows scholarship which gives one SMPS member the opportunity to attend the national Build Business conference; and the PRC scholarship, which sends two members to the Pacific Regional Conference each year. The scholarship program also includes an annual undergraduate scholarship for students earning marketing or communications degrees. SMPS Seattle relies on your generosity to provide these worthwhile scholarships, so thanks to all who attended last night!
