SMPS Fellows Scholarship Raffle: Your chance to win a full registration for Build Business 2014

Ready to help a great cause? Want a chance to win a full registration for Build Business power:play? Just purchase a raffle ticket from the SMPS Fellows – one ticket for $10 or three for $25 – between now and April 8 to be entered for a chance to win. On April 11, SMPS President Brad Thurman will draw at random the name of one lucky winner. If your ticket is drawn, you’ll receive one complimentary full registration to Build Business, July 30 – August 1 (valued at $1,090). Already registered for the annual conference? If you’re the winner, SMPS will refund that registration!

All proceeds from this raffle will benefit a great cause: the Fellows Scholarship Program, which pays a student’s tuition for the 2014 class of the SMPS University: Leadership Advancement Program (SMPS U). In partnership with the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, SMPS created this leadership program especially for A/E/C marketers and business developers. Last year’s scholarship recipient, Grenee Celuch, CPSM, said, “I truly had no idea the impact this program [SMPS U] would have on me and have no doubt that it gave me the tools necessary to be a future CMO and potential owner of my firm.”

Help a deserving student! Download the raffle order form today and buy your tickets right away. A video announcing the winner will be posted online on SMPS’s You Tube channel by Noon ET on April 11. We’ll also post the winner’s name on Facebook and Twitter.

What if I win but have already paid the Build Business registration fee?
We will refund your money on an already-processed registration.

Are the travel expenses to Build Business included in the prize?
Unfortunately, no. But when your bosses find out you won a FREE conference registration valued at $1,090, they’ll realize this is an opportunity too good to pass up. If that doesn’t work, we’ll call your boss for you. Or, you can pay your own travel and share a room with a friend to cut down on expenses.

What’s the deadline to buy tickets?

Is my raffle purchase considered a donation?
Yes. All donations to the SMPS Foundation are fully deductible as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes. You will receive a receipt for your donation by mail.

Can chapters buy raffle tickets?
Yes. If a chapter wins, the chapter can use the registration any way they’d like: reward a board or chapter member, make the registration the grand prize for a chapter scholarship, or use it for their own raffle.

Are there tax implications if I win?
Yes, the winner will receive a 1099 for the 2014 tax year and be required to pay taxes on the prize’s value. For more information about taxes on prizes and the amount you will need to pay if you win, please consult with a tax professional.
