12 Free Web Tools You Didn't Know You Couldn't Live Without (Part 3 of 3)

by The SMPS Seattle Education Committee

Welcome to Part 3 of our 3 part series on tools you can use! The SMPS Seattle Education Committee brings you thirteen sites with free downloads and tools. Please be sure to comment below of what you try...and let us know of any great tools, tips, or tricks everyone should know!

Set Three: Typography and Graphics - It only takes a split second for a client to decide if they love it or hate it. Even if it can't be explained by the reader, their eye can spot a great design. So, take a minute to check out these online font and graphics sources to give your proposal the high-quality look and feel it deserves.

Tool: Dafont

Cost: Free (or as noted by font designer in design notes)

Why it rocks: If you like to dabble in the dark arts of typography but commitment isn't your thing, Dafont is the site for you. From holiday-themed silliness to esoteric dingbat icons, you're guaranteed to find exactly what you didn't know you were looking for...for free! That said, it's always nice to take a moment to leave a comment for the artist when you find something just right.

Tool: FontSquirrel.com

Cost: Free (100% free for commercial use)

Why it rocks: Who doesn't love free things? Well Font Squirrel gives you tons of options for fonts that are "100% free for commercial use" according to the site. Many of us have standard corporate fonts but for the occasion when a new (more fun) font is needed to get that idea across, check out FontSquirrel.com.

Tool: Hongkiat Infographic Design Kit

Cost: Free

Why it rocks: Information graphics are hot, but unless you're and Illustrator whiz it can be hard to justify the time required to really do them justice. Hongkiat, a site full of lots of other goodies, offers a page with a series of downloadable vector art information graphic "kits" - all the line art you need to kick it up a notch.
