See you at the Reign Awards?

It’s that time of the year again, time to gather round and celebrate the very best in our region’s marketing excellence at the SMPS Seattle Reign Awards! On June 13th, we’ll pack the Georgetown Ballroom for an evening of revelry and camaraderie with our industry’s best and brightest marketing minds.

I am particularly excited about this year’s event because we’ve made some big changes that we hope you’ll love.

First off, we've transferred to online entries! For those of you who have never submitted before, this might not resonate with you, but let me tell you, this is a pretty big deal.

Last year about this time, Paula was headed to my office with several boxes of binders in tow, so that our panel of judges could flip through the entries together and select the winners. After schlepping them upstairs, the judges spent a few hours digging through them, and then Paula carted them back to her office. The day of the awards program, she hauled them to the venue so folks could flip through the entries to vote for their top choice entry for the ‘People’s Choice’ award.

This year not only was judging a cinch – it was easier for entrants! Everything was compiled and submitted online via a web form. Instead of binders, a board for each entry will be printed and displayed at the event for attendees to easily view and vote for their favorite projects.

Another change this year is the addition of a wine toss! The wine toss will raise critical funds for SMPS’s annual scholarship program which allows SMPS members to apply for the chance to attend immersive educational conferences or pursue other continuing education opportunities. Last year, we gave back over $15,000 in scholarships and other member benefits! The wine pull will help ensure these programs exist far into the future.

Additionally, this year’s event will feature a professional photo booth with prints for you and your pals. Thanks to the support of our generous sponsors, we we’re able to up the ante to provide this fun party essential! Who doesn’t love a photo booth??!

I want to give a serious shout out to the Special Events Committee for making this year’s event possible. The Reign Awards is led by Paula Welly of OAC Services, this year’s Director of Special Events and Jackie Corley of the Walsh Group, our Reign Awards Chair. The entire committee has been hard at work, but I want to specifically thank Amanda Privitt of Cochran for leading the submission process and Ranjana Sterling of The Blueline Group for leading sponsorship.

    So sorry to miss it this year due to vacation. I always love seeing what other marketers are doing with their communications program. I hope you'll photograph the boards and post them online. Have fun at the Reign Awards!
