Join the Board of Directors

Wondering how to bring your professional development to the next level? Consider applying for the board of directors.

SMPS Seattle is led by 11 SMPS members who volunteer their time to lead the chapter. The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the chapter through development and management of our three-year strategic plan. We strive to advance the professional and personal development of our chapter’s membership by growing our education and networking programs. Seattle’s board of directors also ensures the chapter remains fiscally responsible for our members today and in the future.

Plus – we have fun! Serving on the board is one of the best ways to connect with other members and learn together. It can be an enriching experience that gives you leadership and growth opportunities you may not have in your day job.

How Do I Apply?

Each year, the Nominations and Elections Committee issues a Call for Nominations to our membership for various available Board of Directors positions. The Call for Nominations is typically issued in May.

Nominations may be made by individual members (self-nominations) or by petition. All nominations must include the nominee’s personal data, verification of eligibility, and a statement outlining the individual’s responses to the Candidate Questionnaire. Position descriptions and eligibility information can be found in the Call for Nominations Packet. Nominations for the 2019-2020 year are now closed.

Individual nominations are evaluated by the Nominations Committee to ensure the candidates meet the minimum criteria and represent the best interests of our chapter and members. The Nominations and Elections Committee evaluates all candidates and submits a recommended slate of board of directors upon which all members will vote. If no petitioned nominations are received within 10 days of notice, the slate shall be declared elected and will be introduced at the Annual Kick-Off Meeting.
