2027-2029 Strategic Plan

Vision Statement

SMPS Seattle will use the 2027–29 period to strengthen its position as the premier regional community for AEC marketing professionals by supporting intentional leadership development, strategic partnerships, operational excellence, and a commitment to member value. The chapter will create opportunities for professionals at every stage of their careers while ensuring long-term organizational health and relevance within the AEC industry.

Executive Summary

In 2026, SMPS Seattle's Board of Directors and chapter leaders convened for a two-part strategic planning process to assess the chapter's current state, identify opportunities for improvement, and establish priorities for the next three years. Implementation will occur in coordinated phases beginning with a Mobilization & Preparation period in late 2026, followed by three years of focused implementation. This approach balances ambition with volunteer capacity while ensuring that foundational systems are established before more complex initiatives are expanded.

Reporting, Communication & Plan Stewardship

Successful implementation of this strategic plan requires consistent visibility, shared accountability, and ongoing communication.

  • Quarterly Progress Updates: Initiative Champions will provide quarterly updates summarizing progress, highlighting key milestones, identifying risks or challenges, and outlining next steps. These updates will help maintain momentum and ensure alignment across leadership and initiative teams.
  • Annual Strategic Plan Review: Each year, the Board of Directors will conduct a comprehensive review of the strategic plan to assess progress, confirm alignment with chapter priorities, and adjust timelines or resources as needed.
  • Communication with Members: The success of this strategic plan depends not only on execution, but also on transparency and member engagement. Progress updates will be shared through chapter communications, leadership meetings, annual planning activities, and member touchpoints to communicate accomplishments, reinforce strategic priorities, and create opportunities for member participation.
