Volunteers needed for the 2020/2021 SMPS Seattle Nominations & Elections Committee

Each spring, a special, one-time committee is created for our chapter to determine the future leadership of SMPS Seattle. This short-term commitment is open to any current SMPS Seattle members.

As a member of the Nominations and Elections Committee, you help issue a Call for Nominations to our membership for various available Board of Directors positions for the 2020/2021 SMPS year. Members will apply for the open positions and are selected and approved by the Nominations and Elections Committee. The resulting Slate of Officers is submitted to our chapter’s membership for a vote, which must be approved by at least 30% of our members.

The time commitment is less than one month and involves only one virtual meeting during the week of May 18th, 2020. If interested, please submit your online application no later than Friday, April 24th. Please contact Erin Hatch at [email protected] with any questions.

Message from SMPS Seattle: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

The COVID-19 situation in our city, region, and state continues to unfold. While the Seattle board of directors has been contingency planning for the past month around new developments, specific responses to recommended measures to slow the infection rate evolve on a daily basis. As of March 19, 2020 we are further adjusting our planned meetings, events, and gatherings. Please return to this section of our home page regularly, as any additional changes will be noted here as well as in individual event/meeting details.

At this time, we have the following updates to share:

  • 3.17.20 Meet the Press luncheon | RESCHEDULED to May 19
  • 4.2.20 Fellows Forum | CANCELED
  • 4.29.20 Trivia Night XII | CANCELED

Tickets to RESCHEDULED events will automatically transfer to the new date – there is no action required on your part, unless you prefer a refund. Tickets to CANCELED events have been refunded. Thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate the situation. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected]

If you have ideas or resources to share that might benefit others as they expand their telecommuting strategies and alternatives to meeting in person, please connect with us on social media. We are in this together! Responding ethically and balancing safety and health concerns while continuing to educate and connect leaders in the building industry is SMPS Seattle’s highest priority.

Updated Information for Volunteers & Programs

With the signing of the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order on March 23rd, all SMPS Seattle meetings scheduled through April 6th (or potentially longer) are required to use a virtual meeting or conference call format. This includes SMPS Seattle chapter volunteers or participants in the following programs:

  • Chapter Committee/Sub-Committee Meetings
  • Roundtable Program
  • MULTIPLY Mentorship Program
  • Welcome Wagon Program
  • CPSM Study Program

Additional Educational Opportunities

SMPS has a wide variety of educational opportunities that do not require social distancing, many of which are FREE to members. Don’t forget to take advantage of these benefits:

SMPS Seattle continues to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak daily, looking to resources such as King County Public Health for recommendations on public events, as well as information and guidance from the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Please keep an eye on this web page for future updates.
